Koh Lanta
Popular for those seeking even more peaceful beach tropical holiday, Koh Kanta consists of a number of islands, but most of happenings are concentrated at the two largest ones. The two are at different size as well, Koh Lanta Noi (smaller) and and Koh Lanta Yai (larger). Laying on the Andaman sea about 70 kilometers away from Ao Nang, Koh Lanta Yai is 6 kilometers wide and 30 kilometers long.
Whilst most visitors coming to Koh Lanta through Krabi, it can also be reached from either Phuket and Koh Phi Phi.

Other Destinations

Krabi is a small township with a population of only about 25,000. Located in an upriver area away from the coast, Krabi itself has no beaches. Most visitors go straight to Had Yao, Ao Nang, or Rai Leh. But in fact it is quite a pleasant experience to stay a few days in Krabi to see the real Thai daily living as Ao Nang is very Westernized.
The name is a shortened version of the original Ao Phra Nang, means "Princess Bay" in Thai. Along with its growth of popularity, once sleepy village known only to some backpacking adventures, Ao Nang has grown into a decent resort town with a strong Western feeling, catering not only backpackers but up market travellers as well. With all facilities available, Ao Nang is the best place to base your Krabi exploration.
Outlying islands over the bay are what make Krabi a popular destination. Beautiful karst islands rising from the emerald water and some hidden beautiful beaches makes exploring Krabi feels like Halong Bay in Vietnam or Guilin in China. But that is about the surface. Beyond, soaring karst cliffs attract those with too much adrenaline to test their gut with rock climbing whilst under the water beautiful scuba diving spots are awaiting for exploration as well.
